What is Happy Lift™ ?

Happy Lift™ is a safe and effective thread lifting procedure from ReLife (product of Italy) that offers subtle, natural-looking results via double needle method. These threads are special/patented, absorbable and made out of polylactic acid PLLA in combination with caprolactone and for full face only one to two pairs is required for full face lifting. This technique allows our doctors and official HappyLift trainer; Asst. Prof. Dr. Edmond Ng to produce a relaxed, refreshed appearance while preserving and enhancing the natural contours of your face. Happy Lift™ does not replace a conventional facelift; rather it offers patients an innovative, minimally invasive surgical approach to achieving facelift-like results.

How is it performed?

Does it hurt?

We will be applying topical and injecting local anaesthetic to ensure the procedure is comfortable. Most patients’ say “the worst part is only during injection of the local anaesthetic”. Post-procedure, the pain and discomfort varies from patient to patient (usually depends on how many regions you have elevated). For most patients the pain is very minimal.

Is it safe?

When performed by a trained Happy Lift™ doctor, the procedure is very safe. Asst. Prof. Dr. Edmond Ng and his team of doctors had extensive training in this procedure and also trained many other doctors. The risks and complications are uncommon and usually easily correctable. In the rare event of a complication, the sutures can be removed or repositioned as needed. Since it is performed under local anaesthesia, there are none of the risks associated with general anaesthesia.

How many treatments will I need?

Usually only one procedure is needed to achieve the desired lifting effect. However there is no problem having repeated procedures if needed. Some patients may be more suited to initially having a revitalizing technique done first followed by a lifting procedure a few months later.

What kind of care is required after the procedure?

Following the procedure, there are some practical instructions and care that must be followed to avoid dislodging the threads from their supportive tissue whilst the collagen reaction takes place. Some of these instructions include avoidance of forceful facial rubbing (massage), strong active movement (support brow if coughing/sneezing), sleeping on the side of your face, avoiding excessive mouth opening (eg eating apples and yawning) and some sporting activities. We will explain these recommendations.

When can I return to work and activities?

You will be able to return to work and activities immediately. However, depending upon your workplace and tolerance for some minor bruising, swelling and possible dimpling, sometimes you may have few days of downtime following the procedure.

Are the threads permanent?

Happy lift™ are re-absorbable, and they will dissolve over time.

What type of results will I see?

There will be both immediate and prolong action. The lifting effects are immediate from the mechanical action of the barb threads. A prolong lift action is fortified by the fibrosis and collagen production that appears along the length of the treads. The procedure can also be combined with other techniques including dermal fillers, botulinum toxin. It takes between 1 to 3 weeks for the whole effect to settle and see the final result.

How long do the results last?

Depending on the age of the patient at the time of the procedure, the degree of sagging and the number of threads used, doctors experience shows the duration varies from two to five years.
