What is Derma pen micro-needling?
Derma pen is also known as collagen induction therapy, it is a non-invasive procedure using a medical grade micro-needling pen with a fine needle which the depth of the needle is adjustable to suit the different areas of the face. This procedure causes tiny punctures that create micro-injuries to the skin to encourage the body’s natural healing to stimulate collagen and elastin and renew skin cells. As the skin repairs, the production of collagen and elastin is stimulated making your skin firmer, brightening and appear more youthful.
Is derma roller the same as derma pen?
No. Derma roller is entirely mechanical while derma pen micro needling is powered by machine. Derma pen has many needles that oscillate up & down vertically with adjustable speed and depth thus causing less damage and faster healing process. In contrast, Derma Roller has short needles with consistent puncture depth, it can only roll horizontally against the skin. It creates wounds in form of crater making wound larger and need much longer healing period. Derma pen micro needling must perform on the skin surface at a 90-degree (perpendicular) angle to reduce scraping, scratching, or other trauma that could result in scarring.
Derma pen micro needling is suitable for those who have concerns as follows:
- Wrinkles
- Acne scars
- Dark spots
- Acne scars
- Fine lines
- Dilated pores
- Pigmentation
- Stretch marks
- Dark circles
This skin treatment helps you get younger-looking skin by the end of the entire process since it makes your skin smoother and firmer thereby adding glow to your face.
Can micro-needling combine with other treatments?
Yes, we combine micro-needling with Growth Factors in liquid form during the procedure to enhance the results of the treatment. The liquid that we will be using is Growth Factors, Vitamin C, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), and stem cell-derived exosomes (Exomide) to further improve the efficacy of the treatment for better skin quality and promotes faster wound healing.

What is the aftercare from derma pen micro-needling?
Skin will be sensitive after the procedure; it is best to avoid following at least 5 days of recovery:
- Direct sun exposure without sunscreen
- Skincare products that contain active ingredients (E.g. AHA, Vit C, Retinol)
- Avoid alcohol-based toner
- Engage in vigorous activity and sweating
How long does it last?
The result of micro-needling is gradual. Most patients experience a noticeable improvement in the tone and texture of their skin after a single micro-needling treatment. However, results may vary based on the severity of the skin concern, its location, and the treatment plan used.
The doctor may recommend 4 to 6 treatment sessions to achieve the optimal result. The skin may continue increased collagen production for 3 to 6 months after micro-needling treatment.
Are there any side effects?
Patients may experience some downtime after the procedure, including facial redness, mild swelling, and tenderness in the treated area. They are typically mild and generally subside on their own within three to five days after the procedure.
